Iris :)
And now they are really sprouting up! I am like a giddy school girl every time I go outside and see that they have grown another inch. I am sure by now my children groan every time we get out of the car and I call them over to look. Here they are today:
Yes, it looks sparse but I followed the directions and planted everything according to the directions. So hopefully one day this area will become a mature flower bed and be full but until then here we are. The lilies are in front, then is this bad or what I can't remember but I think I planted the gladiolus next, then my transplants. Behind the iris I planted the hollyhocks, now nothing has come up there so I am thinking they are a loss. At least I tried, honestly I didn't expect anything to grow here anyway. The ground has no top soil it is completely full of red clay and rocks. I was amazed when these little babies started sprouting. After I spent hours trying to move rocks and crumbling the clay she told me she mixes potting soil in with her "dirt" or clay. Wish I would have know that earlier! Though I did do that once it came to the walk way up to the house. I planted four lilies on each side, then ran out of bulbs. So now half way up will be bare. Plus, I only have two that have grown on each side and of course they aren't across from each other. Going to look a bit off this year. Maybe I can score a deal on some mature ones from Lowe's later this summer.
Sheesh, don't mind the crooked lights and the bag of soil! This walkway was full of hostas. I don't know what the previous owner was thinking when she planted them, this area gets full sun during the summer. They were not doing well when we moved in. So I moved a bunch of them under a few trees for the time being. I hope to find them a better home later. There is so much to do outside this might not happen for awhile. Next up, getting the fence up and the dog out of the house. I HATE dog hair!
